1. Do I need to have any musical background before joining a course?
Absolutely not. You can start with the Beginner Course where you'll learn all the essentials in bass playing, as well as play along to your favourite songs.
2. How do I know which course to pick?
You will undergo a 10min assessment, after which we will decide which course fits you best, based on your performance standard and musical goals.
3. How long before I can play songs on the instrument?
That depends on your level of musical experience and training. A student with no musical background can take about 1-3 months to confidently play simple songs, whereas a student with prior musical training may reach "gigging musician" standard in 2-3 years.
4. How long is each course?
Weekly Lessons
If you're a typical workhorse and want to get good fast, this is for you. With a strong commitment to practice, you will be amazed at how fast you can improve on the bass using a well-structured study plan and personal guidance from an experienced bass instructor.
Fortnight Lessons
Having personal and work commitments should not stop you from pursuing a fun hobby or taking up a new skill. This schedule allows time for relaxed practice, while ensuring your mind is still fresh on topics covered in your last lesson.
Ad Hoc Lessons
So you just need a hand in nailing a difficult song, a killer bass technique or just feel like have a refresher lesson, you can just hit me up for one lesson. I'm all ears, so just let me know how I can help!
5. Do you teach online?
I conduct Skype lessons for students who live outside Singapore or just don't have the time to travel for music lessons.
6. Must I buy my own instrument?
I provide a 4-string bass for students who are unable to lug their bass down to the lessons. However I highly recommend you own a bass guitar and small amplifier so that you can practice what you've learnt, in order to see improvement from attending the lessons.
