“There is little reason to understate the immensity and diversity of Wendy Phua’s musical journeys, as all one needs is a little time and separation from the world outside to fully appreciate the spectrum of what she has to say in her patient storytelling.” - Bob Tan, music critic of Audioreload
One of Singapore’s most visited music portals and avid supporter of the burgeoning local music scene, Audioreload has been kind enough to feature a very positive review on Between Here And Then.

I managed to find some time to re-visit my songs and have recorded a BRAND NEW bass solo over “Between Here And Then”. This song has been extremely well-received on myspace beyond my expectations and I thought I might see what else it can do.Probably one of the easiest songs ever for me to write, it flowed out of me like it was waiting to take form. I guess that is what some have termed..that elusive MUSE.
It is performed live where various parts are looped and layered on Mobius/Ableton Live with midi triggering from a behringer midi pedal. My solo bass part was recorded with overdrive and wah and I am really excited abt the possibilities wah offers on bass. Meanwhile I hope you enjoy my new take on Between Here And Then!
I just signed an endorsement with Yamaha Music Corp and will be welcoming a brand new YAMAHA BBNE-II NATHAN EAST WH into the fold! Here’s a peek at the bass but I’ll definitely put up more pics once the bass arrives in September..oh happy times ahead!
The Anugerah Band 2008 gig went really great! Rosli Mansor was being featured as guest artist and I had the good opportunity to session for him on bass along with Addy Rasidi (guitar) and Alvin Tan (drums) and it sure was great to play alongside such awesome musicians! Seems like a family gathering at the Suria TV show, with friends from all over the music scene meeting each other at the Mediacorp studio. It was also great to see my friends from Tribe who were featured as guest artists too, Anis from Ministry Of Rock was also there with another project band, and of course Jatt himself of Black Dog Bone fame was featured as judge for the show strapped in jacket and all.
While I was trying not to collapse on my heels with my brand new 6-string Zon Legacy Elite bass, Rosli, Addy and Alvin were facing other horrors of trying to run away from the make-up artist…heheh. thank god i can do my own make-up..
Anways…A video will be uploaded soon but meanwhile here is a picture from the show.
Here’s a video of a performance on “Pakoo Boomi” by Rosli Mansor where I sessioned for him on bass. The video features Addy Rasidi on guitar and Rahman from Bushman on drums. Filmed @ Fretboard Frenzy: Rise of the Stringers on 3 May 2008 at National Youth Council. enjoy!
I’ll be sessioning for guitarist Rosli Mansor at the Anugerah Band 2008 TV program on 6th May ‘08, so if your at home, in the office or at Harvey Norman, tune your TV sets to Suria channel this Tuesday (6 May), 8.30pm as and catch the Rosli Mansor Band take centrestage to open for Anugerah Band 2008.
